American Optical Co., Scovill Mfg. Co., props.
76 Camera, Variation
2, Push-Pull Focus

Date Introduced: - ; Years Manufactured: c. 1885
Construction: rear focus
via push-pull; single swing; reversing by two tripod mounts; three-piece,
vertically oriented shifting lensboard
Materials: mahogany body; cherry base; red leather bellows;
brass hardware
Sizes Offered: at least
3.25x4.25
Notes: A non-sliding lensboard and
push-pull focus instead of rack and pinion focus distinguish this model from the
"76"
camera, Variation 1. It is included amongst
the 76 models mainly because of the wrap-around hardware for lensboard
rise that it shares with the 76 camera of catalog engravings, but otherwise, it
is very similar to the Waterbury-type American Opticals.
